Hoder and I spent nearly two hours shoveling dirt on our last day shooting his interview to help Bob finish 'Mt Scerbo.' I remember asking Hoder to tell Bob that we needed to get out and shoot some stuff and he went, 'no way man, you tell him!' Its funny thinking back, that both Hoder and I were scared to tell Bob we needed to go and shoot. In retrospect, i think the work we did was a fair payment for all the driving around Bob did. We shot this photo when I was back shooting Ed's interview a few months later. By this time the paint had been added and it really did look like Bob was boosting over his very own mountain.

Some of the scariest people i’ve ever met happen to be BMXers and I thought, traveling to New York with a head full of wild stories and an interview to complete, Mike Hoder would be at the top of that bill. The reality of it was much different and i’ve got to say, some of the most entertaining and enjoyable times i’ve spent working for this magazine occurred over on the East Coast whilst I was working on Mike and East Coast royalty Edwin De La Rosa’s interviews that spanned around a month in total. Scerbo took control of the Animal van, whose insides resembled exactly what you’d expect from Bob and Animal – boxes of hip hop tapes that would tip over every time the van was packed and in turn, churn up some new gem that was lurking at the bottom. Both guys put their necks out for real interviews and really, what more can you ask for?
